The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) will officially close on 1 July 2026.
The SBSCH, a free online service provided by the Australian Government through the ATO, allows employers to make a single superannuation payment for all employees. The ATO then distributes these payments to each employee’s nominated super fund, following the employer’s instructions.
To help small businesses prepare for the closure, new users will no longer be able to register for the SBSCH from 1 October 2025.
If you currently use the SBSCH, now is the time to start planning your transition to an alternative service. This might include:
Reviewing your current payroll or accounting software, as many already have built-in super payment functions.
Exploring options offered by super funds, commercial clearing houses, or other payroll providers.
This closure forms part of the Government’s ‘Payday Super’ reform. Subject to legislation, from 1 July 2026, employers will be required to pay superannuation at the same time as salary and wages.
